Web Services API

Web Services API

This question is answered

Is it possible to create "Group" for Telligent Community 5.5 using Web Services API ?  .. Thanks

Verified Answer
  • There is not an endpoint yet in the v2 Web Services for creating groups, but there is one in v1 web services: telligent.com/.../groups-v1.aspx

  • Will v1 be supported going forward? I'd like to know what the API road map is so we stay on the upgrade path. Does mixing v1 and v2 API create any problems to that end? Thanks...

  • Currently there is not a scheduled "end of lifecycle" date for the v1 web services. We are no longer developing new functionality for it but we do make important bug fixes. My unofficial take is that we'll continue supporting v1 until there is a suitable replacement for nearly all of its functionality in v2. And even then we'll give plenty of notice (probably at least one major version/release) before it is completely removed.

There are no issues with mixed development between v1 and v2 web services. In fact, some of our new SharePoint work is done that way - mixing calls between v1 and v2.

  • Thanks for Clarifying this Dan. I was also interested in how we should approach mixing the v1 & 2 APIs. Good to hear we will get a lest a full release of notice. This is very important when we are considering customisation/extensions for clients.

    Thanks
