I'm upgrading from Telligent 6 to Telligent 7, following the instructions posted here: http://telligent.com/support/telligent_evolution_platform/community/w/community7/24675.how-to-upgrade-telligent-community.aspx#Upgrading_from_6_x_to_7_0.

I exported my widgets, creating files named EditedWidgetsBackup.xml, AllWidgetsBackup.xml, and SiteThemeConfigurationBackup.xml.

However, the instructions give no information on importing these into my Telligent 7 system. I assume I use Import Widgets from Manage Widgets in Site Administration. But when I do that, browsing to those three backup files, I don't get any indication of success. Should this import have restored my widgets (one of which is a plug-in "GeoFluent translation" widget)? (Sorry, I probably haven't given enough information here.)

Something is amiss in my upgrade, probably a CSS issue, because I'm missing the text and outlines for many tabs in Site Administration, and can only access the Widget Studio tab because I remember where it should be, and put my cursor at that spot and get the studio tabs when I click there.

Am I missing a resources file that paints those tabs and their labels?

    Hi Willie,

    After following the instructions in the upgrade document, did you click through to the document referenced in Step 8 to Upgrade the User Experience?  There are a few optional paths to take for completing a User Experience upgrade, depending on what features you would like to enable and how much customization has been made on the site. This document also contains specifics on if/when to use your widget and theme exports.

    Regarding the control panel, widget and themes don't affect these.  Can you verify your installation is using all of the updated files from the upgrade package, especially those in the "ControlPanel" folder?  Also, did your site use any customizations/add-ons that affected the control panel?

    Thanks, Michael. For the issue of the mising tabs and labels in the System Administration area (the rest of the Control Panel seems okay), I re-copied the files from the ConrolPanel directory of our Telligent 7 package, but that didn't help.

    I see that my ...\Web\Languages\en-US directory does contain a ControlPanelResources.xml file that has the missing labels (e.g., <resource name="CP_Tools_NavBar_Widgets">Widget Studio</resource>). So I guess something is missing that is supposed to find this label and display it.

    I'll figure it out. The more important thing for me is to get our GeoFluent Translation widget back in place, and I think that can't be done via importing the widgets that I exported, but by re-installing our GeoFluent plug-in (which I'm currently failing on when I run our plug-in installer).
