Slow Email Notifications

We are seeing about 800 notifications getting sent every hour.  We have over 360k waiting to be sent and more getting generated every day, so we aren't able to keep up.

Any suggestions on where we should be looking for bottlenecks?

    What kind of notifications are being sent and what version of the software?

    Hi Rob -

    We are on version 6.1.

    We send out email notifications for activities within the group.  But what we are seeing is that the email queue is extremely high and the processing is very low, so we don't ever get caught up and certainly never get ahead.

    We have a custom template that we are looking at, but I feel like we may have something else configured incorrectly or doing something else that would add additional slow down.

    We don't have any server constraints and the database processing is looking good.

    Hi Kris,

    That definitely shouldn't be causing mail to queue.  What we have seen in the past, and have since fixed, is that occasionally someone will attempt to send a mail that includes a large attachment.  Since the emails send serially, one mail can backup the entire queue.

    I would recommend looking at the size of the emails in the queue and if you don't find anything you should definitely open a support ticket and let us help troubleshoot this.
