User group membership from external DB

This question is answered

I was wondering if I could get a lead on what the process might be like to have an authenticated user's group memberships be determined by a database external to Telligent.

Our website CMS is Sitecore 6.5 and that is integrated with NetForum AMS database.  NetForum stores committee memberships and roles.

I'm hoping that there will be a way to build the Telligent/Sitecore integration in a manner which would allow members of a committee, stored in Netforum, to have read/write permissions to corresponding forums in Telligent.

Any bread crumbs helping us navigate this forest would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks, in advance,

David

  • Telligent has many different APIs that could be used.  For example we have a plugin event based model that you could make an API call to another system when a user is created and based on that use the in-process API to create group memberships.   Or there is a full REST API that you could do the same from another system.  I recommend looking at the developer documentation
