A member of the community I manage has asked, "would it be possible for Community Server 2008.5 to deliver a 'combined & condensed' daily or weekly email notification of community posts instead of individual alerts each time?
I am the Community Manager of an internal Enterprise 2.0 community for a global publisher. We have 12,000 members and are growing fast.
One of the drawbacks to increased employee engagement and participation is the proliferation of email notifications coming to member's Outlook Inboxes. Many people want to shut off email notifications as a result of the increase in post notifications.
As a workaround, I have suggested members create Outlook rules to redirect these alerts to an 'Alerts' folder. Some people may not be comfortable with trying to do this.
Is offering an option for 'combined & condensed' daily or weekly email notifications something that can be implemented? If not for CS 2008.5, perhaps for TE 2.5 or TC 5.5?

Hi Michael,
We've done quite a bit of work in 5.5 around this:
You can see a video on some of the thread 'muting' work here to shut off notifications on topics they are not interested in:
We've also added some other smaller enhancements around email management. But this feedback is great input into what we're looking at for future releases.
Thanks,
Rob
