How to customize main menu navigation?

This question has suggested answer(s)

Hi,

I'm a TE newbie and I have seen the intro video but no where in the video does he say that I can put links to Wiki pages or external links or any link for that matter in the Main menu without having to create a group. I know TE/TC are group driven but there must be a way to get a custom navigation much like what Telligent has up there (Products > | Services | Support | Res....)

I'm pretty sure some (in)telligent guy out there knows how to do it, so please reply as soon as you can.

Thanks

  • With Telligent Enterprise, just log in as an administrator, click Enter Edit Mode in the top right, and then you should see the main edit screen and have a "New Tab" button.  Click it and you just supply a name and a URL.

  • Hi,

When I log in as admin I cannot see the New Tab nor the X on the existing tabs, I can add/remove tabs only by creating/removing groups. Please explain. Thanks

  • It sounds like you're using Telligent Community as opposed to Telligent Enterprise.  The above method is only available in Telligent Enterprise, and only customises the navigation viewed on the homepage.

  • Oh thats a mistake on my part infact we need to use TE for the client but we already got the license for TC, my question is that can we use the same license to install and use TE? Please say yes.

  • Ok I got the same license working with TE and I'm able to edit the tabs and add new one but the question is, when I sign out it still shows me the old tabs, I know its not cached am I missing something?

  • No, Telligent Enterprise is a separate product.  You cannot use your Telligent Community license on it.

As for the tabs, when you changed them, did you click "Customize" or "Enter Edit Mode"?  Customize changes it only for the current user, but "Enter Edit Mode" from the header as an admin gives you the ability to make changes site wide.
