Market researchers have explored this puzzle for decades, but Core4 Research, has found that online social communities can often provide better answers. In the recent article by The BrainYard's columnist, David Carr, he spoke with Henry Ho, Partner at CORE4 Research, to learn exactly what CORE4 Research does and how it leverages Telligent Community for conducting consumer market research.

CORE4 Research needed to come up with a way to conduct high quality research and uncover consumer feedback both quickly and cost-efficiently. Its solution? Make research social by conducting research in an online community. It still utilizes traditional research methods, however now they also conduct market research through the use of online communities as an engaging way to gather and analyze consumer feedback. With online communities, consumers engage researchers and one another to share product and packaging feedback, evaluate product placement in stores and discuss shopping habits. The social nature of the online communities where participants can engage with one another brings out different insights than one-on-one conversations with researchers.

In addition to online communities, CORE4 Research created a mobile application called Field Agent that also gets them valuable research. Read the entire article to learn exactly how CORE4 Research is making market research more social. Also be sure to read CORE4 Research's case study for an even more in-depth dive into what they do.

CMSWire: Social Business 101 – Building the Foundation

As new forms of social media proliferate and enterprises scramble to keep pace with their customers, social business is a force that cannot be ignored. So if you are new to social and want to apply it to your business, where do you start? As a helpful aid, Telligent Founder and CTO, Rob Howard, has compiled a list of top recommendations that he encourages the c-suite focus on in 2012.

From social being the new normal to why you should focus on strategy, Howard's recommendations should be viewed as the foundation to help jumpstart your social education. And as an added bonus for each recommendation, he lists key takeaways that should be top of mind as you start to implement social in your business objectives.

Read the entire article to learn how to tackle applying social to your business by getting back to the basics. Keep in mind that this is just part one of his list of recommendations; his additional five recommendations will be forthcoming.

AccountingWEB: AICPA Creates Social Networking Site for Aspiring Accountants

Wondering who AICPA is and what type of social network it created to drive its recruitment efforts? So what is meant by the concept of delivering plus one?
Specifically, it seems that the +1 concept fits well with online communities, since one of the main reasons to have an externally facing online community is to deepen relationships with your customers. This particular article gives an overview of the growth of enterprise social networks and describes enterprise social networks as "kind of like Facebook for the workplace, but without the socializing. Enterprise social networks are meant to result in employees working together better as a team and getting their work done more efficiently."

Although acquisitons are not uncommon in the world of enterprise and web content management, they are not as common in the social business sector; which is what CMSWire believes makes this acquisition so unique.

To learn more about the acquisition and to gain insight into the primary reasons Telligent went after Leverage, CMSWire journalist, Barb Mosher, spoke one-on-one with Telligent CEO, Patrick Brandt. The top three motivators that Brandt listed for wanting to acquire Leverage were the user experience, mobile and cloud. As the article continues, Brandt expands on the topic of the acquisition and also hints at what Telligent possibly has in store for the future.

Telligent Founder & CTO, Rob Howard, and Telligent CMO, Wendy Gibson, spoke with Dow Brook about the acquisition shortly after the news broke on Monday. Key points they discussed were around the impact of the acquisition. Specifically, Telligent will gain several strategic pieces that will strengthen its offerings through the acquisition of Leverage, including cloud, mobile, and analytics technology; people with .NET and iOS development skills; and some marquee customers. However, the single largest impact of the acquisition will be an accelerated delivery of Telligent's cloud offerings roadmap.

By acquiring Leverage Software, this will help to strengthen Telligent's cloud computing and enterprise social networking products. To gain more insight about the acquisition, The Brainyard journalist, David Carr, interviewed Telligent CEO, Patrick Brandt, to learn his thoughts about the acquisition.

Brandt stated that Leverage Software's strength is in enterprise social networking delivered as software as a service (SaaS). "This is full SaaS, true SaaS--multitenant, not the fake stuff," Brandt said. Telligent currently offers applications on a cloud computing business model, with subscription payments rather than traditional software licensing, as an alternative for some of its customers. However, this is on a "single tenant, multi-instance" basis--meaning that Telligent configures and hosts servers for those customers. Cloud services that provision customer accounts from a common pool of servers can activate new services more quickly and operate more efficiently.

As the article continues, Patrick expands more on SaaS, Leverage's "people-center design" and the benefits that will be gained through this acquisition.
