On Monday, March 15, I presented a keynote at the Social Media Conference in London entitled, "Measuring Engagement in Communities." The message centered around the value of measurement but made the key point that without a clear strategy, knowing what to measure is nearly impossible. In fact, the tools and technologies enable you to measure just about everything - from page views to influencers. But without a clear strategy or objective (i.e. Digital Marketing, Support, Reputation Management), your organization cannot pick the right metrics to focus on. If there is no organizational objective, It is impossible to answer the ROI question.

 

In this keynote presentation, I introduced some of Telligent's strategies on external communities, including a high-level overview of an online community planning framework. I then walked through several examples, and connected this to another framework that helps you fully understand what you're measuring through the use of the Telligent Analytics platform.
