Telligent powers online communities for some of the world's best known brands and supports more users on our platform than most other vendors combined. For example, did you know that MySpace.com leverages Telligent to power portions of their community? With more than 100 million users, the demands on the platform are substantial. To achieve these kinds of scalability and performance results, Telligent has joined with Intel to build a high performance testing facility. Within this facility Telligent has had the opportunity to test some of the newest processor technology from Intel including the Intel® Xeon™ processor 5500 series, formerly Nehalem-EP, and Intel® Xeon™ processor 5600 series, formerly Westmere-EP. I participated Tuesday in the launch event for Intel in New York City and was able to record a short video that will be published on Intel.com/server. (We'll put the link on Telligent.com as well.)What we've seen in our lab is roughly a 25 percent improvement in the number of concurrent users with Intel's Xeon 5600 (Westmere) processor line. The Westmere processor now includes a table to manage processor context ID, enabling fast context switching; this is something Web applications must do when handling multiple user requests. Secondly, we've seen a 25 percent improvement in page requests per second. With two additional cores and some of the advancements in caching, we expected to see some clear improvement here.
We're also excited about the on-chip encryption work that Intel has done: Intel® AES-NI & Intel TXT. Telligent does a lot of work with both US and international government agencies, and security is just as paramount for these organizations as are performance and scalability for some of our large corporate clients.
All of this of course translates into benefits for you, our customer. We'll publish additional details from our performance lab in the future.
