OUR HISTORY
Founded in 2004, Telligent was one of the first entrants into the online social community market. Well before the term "Web 2.0" was coined, Telligent released the first integrated online community platform. Since then, Telligent has grown, evolved and has continued leading the way in collaborative social software and social analytics.
However, the story isn't complete without mentioning Telligent Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Rob Howard. He is the visionary behind Telligent's product development and innovation, and is known throughout the industry as an authority in community and social software.
Always an entrepreneur, Howard realized at a young age that there was a market for computer consulting. As a college sophomore, Howard started a business out of his dorm room called Campus Consulting. After graduating from Baylor, Howard sold Campus Consulting and spent six years at Microsoft working in software development and marketing. A true pioneer, he contributed to the development and adoption of Microsoft's Web platform tech¬nologies, where he was a founding team member of the innovative ASP.NET community.
Over time he saw a way to solve a business problem around customer and partner communication. Howard continued his vision for online collaboration when he left Microsoft and founded Telligent, financed by his personal savings and credit. Although a risky career decision, his intense vision helped to create the newly emerging social platform market — now projected to be a $2 billion category by 2014, according to IDC.
Today Telligent and Microsoft continue a strong, mutually beneficial partnership, including key integrations with SharePoint, Lync and other Microsoft products. Telligent's first and largest customer, Microsoft powers more than 30 of its online communities with Telligent software.
In fact, thousands of organizations worldwide have created successful communities using Telligent products that drive collaboration, communication, innovation, networking and support, including American Marketing Association, Dell, Psion, Starbucks, U.S. Department of Defense - All Partners Access Network (APAN) and more.
