Over the last few months, I have shared several ideas, ranging from support and training tips to content recommendations, around marketing in an online community. Now, I want to touch on idea five:
#5 Collect ratings and reviews
Whether you’re in the market for a new pair of shoes, a new car, a new apartment, or a new nail salon, it is very likely that you will head online to do a little research on ratings and reviews before making your decision. Ratings and reviews are part of our everyday decision making process and we look to them to help support our decisions in online communities too. Check out this example from Game Informer.
In the Game Informer community, it’s easy for members to access reviews and recommendations. How? They have a tab dedicated solely to reviews and ratings. Their ratings are very detailed and are broken up into six scoring components, ranging from graphics to playability (take a look here). For reviews, they even have a distinction between the editor's reviews and user reviews, so take your pick!
I encourage you to take a look at GameInformer.com to learn more about how ratings and reviews are incorporated. Who knows, you may just log off the site with a full list of new games to buy!
