The Exchange Connector is something that is not often requested and isn't publicly released.  It plugs directly into Exchange Server in order to get email out of Exchange and into Mail Gateway, rather than getting the email from a separate IMAP/POP3 account or spool directory.  It is not often used, as a lot of companies are often pretty tight on what can install directly into Exchange... they more prefer something that runs outside of Exchange or on a separate server.

I can see it is included in the Enterprise License, which I have through the MVP program. So the interest is right now mostly for testing purpose, and learn all the capabilitites of the Enterprise Lic.

I have my own Exchange Server running at home, and thought I might test it. But if I understand correct it is not available yet, or is it just available on demand?

I agree that most companies would probably not want anything installed on Exchange. But it could be a bit different for small companies, i.e. running Small Business Server and just having one server.

This suggests no software is necessary on the Exchange Server. Is Rob talking about something different than the add-on mentioned in this thread?

Our company is interested in tighter CS integration with Exchange. Can you elaborate on the roadmap for such an add-on? Where can I find more information?

Rob was talking in general about Mail Gateway.  The Exchange Connector installs into Exchange.  All the Exchange Connector is is a way to get the messages directly out of Exchange and into Mail Gateway.  It provides no other functionality.  It is simply an alternative to POP3/IMAP/spool directory.

Per my previous thread. I'm hopping on this thread now; got Exchange installed (thank you MSDN subscription) and configured on my home domain.  It appears there are a couple of ways to get the mail gateway configured for Exchange if I'm reading this thread correctly.  What's the recommended way to do it, i.e. if you were going to set this up how would you do it?  If the Exch connector is the best way to go, I have no issues installing that on my exch box.  I can't wait to start playing around with this!

Well, to narrow it down, the Exchange Connector is not officially available.  For starters, it is not going to be posted online, it will only be available as a special request.  Additonally, it isn't included with Mail Gateway's standard receivers.  It is a separate $999 purchase, unless you have the Enterprise version of CS.

Though getting back to my point, it isn't officially available.  Its development was separate from Mail Gateway's (since it isn't included in it) and it is not complete yet.

Has there been any further development for this with CS2007?  I have a trial version of the enterprise edition (we will be purchasing this once we get email intigration working) and am wondering if this is the only solution to get the mail gateway working with Microsoft Exchange.  Also see this post (http://communityserver.org/forums/p/488453/587806.aspx#587806).
