Community Server 2.1 Service Pack 3

Community Server 2.1 Service Pack 3 update
(Build # 2.1.70416.1)

This zip file contains only the web-deployable files that have changed in since the initial CS 2.1 release for upgrading existing CS 2.1 web sites. It is a cumulative update that includes the SP1, SP2, and SP3 changes.

It does not contain a ready-to-deploy package to upload to your web server.  If you would like to install Community Server on your web server, download Community Server 2007.

This update includes:

  • A Read Me file with more detailed instructions on how to update your CS 2.1 site.
  • A list of improvements and bug fixes added in SP1, SP2, and SP3.
  • A web folder that contains web deployable files that have changed from the original CS 2.1 release to SP3. The files are already in the correct directory structure so you can drop them over top of your existing site.
  • Binaries (.dll files) for both ASP.NET 1.1 and ASP.NET 2.0. Copy the binary files for the appropriate version into your /bin directory over top of the existing ones.
  • A SQL Script file that will update your database to CS 2.1 SP3. Execute this file against your Community Server database.
  • This zip file was updated on April 17, 2006 to Service Pack 3. The SP1 and SP2 downloads are no longer available.

Another pack that just includes SP2 changes would be good.

After upgrading from SP2 to SP3 , the links from search results page are not working. I get the following error: System.NullReferenceException: Object reference not set to an instance of an object. Source Error: Line 218: private void InitializeChildControls() Line 219: { Line 220: statusRepeater.ItemDataBound += new RepeaterItemEventHandler(statusRepeater_ItemDataBound); Line 221: } Line 222: Source File: D:\CommunityServerSoftware\CS_2.1.61129.2_SDK\source\Forums\Controls\Views\SinglePostView.cs Line: 220 i checked thr view_SinglePostView.ascx and there is no control in page "statusRepeater". anyone has similar issue?

Any reason why the new version number wouldn't show in the bottom right of the Dashboard after I upgrade. I have 2.1.20416.1 and the new one should be 2.1.70416.1. Site works great, just wondering.

dbruyere - Since each of those values needs to be an Int16, we had to change our version numbering scheme. Ultimately we went with year mod 5 for that first digit (therefore 2007 mod 5 = 2). For more details, I blogged about this earlier this year: http://www.tankete.com/core/blogs/jose_lema/archive/2007/01/11/version-number.aspx

Is the SDK for SP3 still available? I don't see it.
  • re: Community Server 2.1 Service Pack 3

Hi skhasnis, I have exactly the same bug. It's impossible to have any SinglePostView without CS throwing a NullReferenceException. See this bug I posted in the support forums yesterday (no answer yet): http://communityserver.org/forums/t/487320.aspx Very annoying bug indeed.

What ever happened to the Community Server 2.1 SP2 - Windows Executable Installer (Build # 2.1.61129.2) download, which used to be available at http://communityserver.org/files/folders/communityserver/entry542595.aspx It seems to have disappeared !
