Is there way to disable theme customization by Group Owners

  • I don't want to allow Group Owners to add widgets and Google Gadgets.

    Thanks

  • You can use the group administration page in the control panel to disable themes for groups (controlpanel/HubAdmin/Options/ThemeOptions.aspx).  This will prevent group owners from being able to do the things you described.  Another approach is to mark the property as not editable in the theme.config: editable="false"

  • I have disabled the selection of new themes.  However, the default is Hawaii.  Group owners can click on  "Edit this theme" from the group home page and still edit widgets and gadgets.

Where in \Themes\Hubs\hawaii\theme.config do you set the editable property to false

Where in \Themes\Hubs\hawaii\theme.config do you set the editable property to false

On each <property /> node, you would add an attribute/value for editable="false" to make that field not editable.

Another option (instead of editable="false") would be setting visible="false" on all of the properties.  This will prevent the fields from being viewable at all.

  • Is it possible to customize/limit the options that are available in the themes drop down list to a specific set of themes based on who is accessing?

For instance, I want all groups in Group Category 1 to be able to select theme A, B or C

but groups in Group Category 2 can only choose theme D, E or F - and never get the option for A, B or C?

  • Hi Brenda,

You can certainly do this by going into your themes folder and deleting out all themes you do not want to appear in the selection menu.  That menu is built based on the themes in the themes folders in the theme directory.

    Good Luck!
