  • Forum Post: Re: Locking down the site

If the permissions prevent someone from seeing posts, media, etc. shouldn't they also prevent them from seeing the tags related to those private photos? I'm trying to find a way to prevent public users from seeing the tags from private photos. Thanks!
  • Forum Post: Forum permissions

Now that I have upgraded to 2008, it seems as though the forum permissions that I had no longer apply. On the control panel everything looks ok, but now any registered user seems to have full access to the forums. Do permissioners created in 2007 carry over to 2008? How can I fix this>
  • Forum Post: Locking down the site

I'm running a website for my extended family: 8 blogs, 8 galleries, minimal forum usage, etc. Because we share family pictures and personal information and many of us have young kids, we decided a while ago to restrict access to the site to only authenticated users, and I'd control who could...
  • Forum Post: How can members post to the group blog?

Is there a way to enable any registered user who joins a group to post to the group blog?
  • Forum Post: Re: Group access - Public Closed

I have a couple of customizations to the hub theme pages that should give you this functionality. These customizations will redirect all pages in the hub to the hub home page for non-members, and it will hide indexed content on the home page for non-members of the hub. 1) Add the following block of...
  • Forum Post: Uploadpermissions for blogs, media and forum under groups

It seems that the permissions for what filetypes users are able to upload, let's say as an attachment to a forum post, is not controllable when the forum is under a group. Same with media and blog attachments. Where can I adjust this? Setting "files require moderation" is not an...
  • Forum Post: Re: Control Panel Permissions

Marco Barra In that case, I'd like to nominate this as an improvement for future releases. As part of my role it is essential that I have access to the "page creation/editing" and "moderation triggers" elements of the control panel without compromising the "site set...
  • Forum Post: Re: Control Panel Permissions

afscrome Article and widget editors do not get free run of the CS Control Panel. Did you mean something else? Well, from this thread (http://dev.communityserver.com/forums/t/500925.aspx) I understood the only way to give users the permissions to edit articles and widgets is to make them SystemAdministrators...
  • Forum Post: Control Panel Permissions

Is there a way of granting access to a limited number of items (Site Content, and Content/Site Security tabs only) within the Site Administration section of the Control Panel ? Acess to the other areas (Site Configuration, and Tools) must remain blocked.
  • Forum Post: How to disable anonymous gallery comments? (CS2008SP1)

We have anonymous posting globally enabled but only selective allowed for forums. However, the site is permitting anonymous comments on public media galleries, resulting in spam postings. How do we disable comments on public galleries? These comments are coming from the Everyone permission. Our permission...
  • Forum Post: Setting up Editors/Moderators for Specific Forums

I tried for an hour yesterday to try to set up a power user of our site as a moderator for a specific forum. The idea was to allow her to edit/moderate that one particular forum, and have access to as-yet-unmoderated posts that were sitting in 'Control Panel' for that forum, but not to allow...
  • Forum Post: Login and Forum Permissions

I have a requirements to base a company intranet off a forum system. I am thinking of using communityServer for this. Part of what the customer needs is an integrated login off an external database and external permissions for some of the forums. Is this possible? For the login, I think I can write...
  • Forum Post: Who has permissions to add and edit Tags?

It is unclear how some users have access to add and edit tags, and some do not. based on the behavior, we are guessing that it is managed for each application type Forum - Post permissions Media - Edit permissions Blog - Write permissions Is this right?
  • Forum Post: Groups and Roles in CS2008.5

We have a private community (restricted by Role 'Member') but would like to use Groups. Here are the Group options in CS2008.5: We want to have Groups which are Public, or Private variously, but only visible to Members in either case. In otherwords, a Public group is visible to all Members...
  • Forum Post: Can you give a specific Role access to a Private Group?

I am trying to integrate a Private Group with special permissions. I'm using the Four Roads Ecommerce add-on for CS 2008.5 to allow customers to pay a subscription fee for access to certain sections. Four Roads allows you to grant a specific Role to subscribers. I know I can do this with a separate...
  • Forum Post: How to share a document in media gallery

Hi all, I have this document that I want to be shared by a group of users, with permissions for editing. Every single user from that group must be able to edit that one file. Simple as that. I have added the users I want to the "Trusted Users" role. Then I have this set of permissions...
  • Forum Post: How are Group Permissions stored for Users?

How does the information on Group Membership (public or private) get stored. When I add a new user to a Private Group and check Roles there are no new Roles assigned to that user, but clearly somewhere in the database there is some Profile information being stored to allow a person access particularly...
  • Forum Post: Group sub-application permissions

Hi there, When setting up a blog, wiki, or forum outside of a group (hub) I have the option of overriding permissions for user roles in the system. When creating a Group, however, it appears that there is no way to specify group-specific permissions for each of the roles. Is this the case? I'm...
  • Forum Post: Wikis - making areas of the page visible only to certain roles

Hi all, I use roles to offer different content to different types of users, based on our comapny's licensing structure. We plan to use the Wiki functionality to creat an online Knowledgebase, but would like to make the content differ, between customers who pay for support and those who don't...
  • Forum Post: Blog Permissions

Greetings all, Sometime in the past, one of my employees gave another individual permissions to write/publish posts on a blog. • Forum Post: chameleon control to lock down content to members of a group

Hi all, I know you can "lock down" content, so that people in particular roles can view different content parts, using the UserInRole condition. Is there a control along the lines of UserInGroup? My idea is that you could make a block of text visible only to those who are (approved...
  • Forum Post: Re: Wiki 'View' Permissions?

I second that request! I had to lock down areas of my wiki using web.config files - which forces anonymous users to login before viewing. People who don't have the correct permissions (not in the correct role) are displayed an "access denied" message.
  • Forum Post: Wiki 'View' Permissions?

Hi there, We use roles in our community to control which of the various blogs / forums / galleries each of our different groups of users can view. I've been looking at the wiki application, and strangely it seems like the only permissionable actions are: Create, Comment, Edit, Move, Delete...
  • Forum Post: Permissions

Regarding user role blog permissions: Is there a way to give a role permissions to only write a blog post? I know that "write" gives permission to edit content, and that includes deleting other posts. Additionally, does anybody know of an effective method to moderate those writing posts...
