Pages appearing in

This question has suggested answer(s)

Am having trouble with pages in blogs.

I've tried using several of the blog themes but posts which are created as Pages seem to appear in the list of posts rather than in a pages section. Any ideas?

We are using CS 2008.5 SP1.

  • Can you go to edit your post and the Advanced Optiosn tab.  Ensure that the two "Display Post" options are set to No.

  • Thanks, Alex. The Page no longer appears in the list of Posts which is great.

But I can only half-mark that as the answer as it raises two more questions:

    • As that's somewhat convoluted for the end-user to grasp, is there a way of making those settings the default for all Pages on all blogs?
    • How does a visitor see the Pages? I can't see either a list of pages or a link to them in any of the themes I've tried.

    Thanks.

    • I'v never understood the difference between pages and posts.  As far as I've seen, the only differnece is blog posts appeared on the blog homepage but pages didn't.  Now you can mark individual pages as not shown on the blog homepage there's no difference between blog posts and blog pages.
    • That's the point, pages aren't shown on the blog at all.  You have to explicitly link to them.
  • Thanks for the clarification, Alex

Fine. The convention (e.g. in Wordpress.com) with Pages is that they are listed in the sidebar under a "Pages" heading. This can be done manually, of course but for a future release it might be worth creating a Pages widget.
