Theme wise, the folowing are four fantastic resources about Chameleon (the themeing engine).

• Introductory Video - A fantastic overview in video format for those who prefer it that way.  Again whilst the demo was for CS2007, the same concepts apply for CS2008, although some specific controls may not function the same way.
• Introduction to Chameleon - This is an excelent blog series by Ben Tiedt about introducing how Chameleon works.  Whilst it was written for CS2007, the concepts are still the same in CS2008.
• Chameleon Control Documentation - This is documentation on the Chameleon Controls.  There are different versions of this documentation available:  CS2008.5, CS2008, CS2007 - make sure to use the correct version
• CS Themes Book - This book provides lots of detailed information about themes, but again you have to remember it was written for CS2007.  That means that the concepts in the book are the same, but some of the examples used may have been removed (particularly examples involving file and photo galleries), and others may require slight modification to work on CS2008.

I would recomend to watch the video first, and then use the Introduction to Chameleon document and documentation as extra reading
