We have a box displaying "friend's activity" on our home page. As membership of our site has grown and members activities have increased, loading the data for this box has slowed the loading time for our home page to such a degree (causing the page to timeout) that we have had to remove it. Problem seems to be that there is now so much data in the 'friend activity' part of the database that it is taking too long to query it.

Here's the code for the friend's activity box I am talking about:

I would strongly recommend against Davide's solution. That will allow *any* community to embed any malicious javascript files in any user generated content in the community. Allowing arbitrary users to upload arbitrary Javascript like this will create a *HUGE* security risk for your community users.

You can insert anchors into wikis. IF you're using Community Server I believe you have to do this through the raw HTML. For newer versions of Tellgient Community / Telligent Enterprise there is an anchor button on the text editor you can use to insert the anchor.

We created a group and made it private. a blog post was created and the comments display by oldest first, newest at the bottom. is there a way to configure this to be the other way around?

Wow - this is really quite shocking, especially considering how much Telligent charged for CS 2008.

Seriously, what would it cost Telligent to setup an archive page with links to to all the SDK and upgrade packages? We're talking about measly 10MB files here.... What a way to treat your customers.

If it helps anybody, I've CS2008_SP1_4.0.30619.63.sdk.zip in my own archives (9.6MB). Note that it's the SDK for the 2008 version, not 2008.5 (and it's the SP1 service pack specifically - I think that the latest SP for CS 2008 was SP3). Happy to upload it to an FTP site or send by email - just send me the details.

I also have CS2008.5_SP1_4.1.31106.3070.upgrade.zip (9.8MB), which appears to be the upgrade package to go from 2008 to 2008.5 SP1 (the upgrade was free for all 2008 licensees). It's not the full SDK however - just the upgrade package for the website and database.

Unfortunately, I don't have any other SDKs (and kicking myself now for not having archived them when they were still available - but then I didn't expect Telligent to be so crap to their customers).

If anybody else has SDKs and upgrade packages in their archives, it would be good to upload all of them in one place - I'm sure there are quite a few other people out there stuck with legacy sites they can't even maintain anymore because of this.

I moved my CS 2008 installation from the root folder of the Web site to a subfolder 1 level down. The blog posts load just fine, but all the embedded images are missing. I see that the links for images still point to http://<site.com>/cfs-file.ashx in the root folder, not in the new location.

Can you help me understand how to fix this? I tried to code a 301 redirect to solve the problem, but maybe that's not the best approach.

Here's what one of the image links looks like: http://<site.com>/cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles//.jpg

I've tried these redirects:

1. From cfs-file.ashx to subfolder/cfs-file.ashx.

2. From /cfs-file.ashx to /subfolder/cfs-file.ashx.

3. From http://.com/cfs-file.ashx to http://.com/subfolder/cfs-file.ashx.

4,5,6. Same as 3 above but with the whole path up to the image filename (...cfs-file.ashx/__key/CommunityServer.Blogs.Components.WeblogFiles//)

The latter 5 variations fail with HTTP 500 errors. The 1st, which looked like the most likely to succeed, results in this mangled URL:

I've moved my CS 2008 installation from the root folder to a subfolder. I created a 301 redirect for the pages (blog posts) without a problem. However the links for images still point to cfs-file.ashx in the root folder, so images aren't showing up.

I am using CS2008.5 -- 4.1.36.8414 and we have started using Wiki's and everything else is working correctly.

Anyone trying to insert Media cannot find any media listed as shown above.

I can put images files in the Sites files or my own area, but it does not find them.

What am I missing here ?

From what I can tell, if you are not signed in and want to contribute to anything on a Community-based site (e.g. start a forum thread, reply to a forum post, post a blog or wiki article, upload a file, post a blog/wiki/file comment, etc.), the only way to do that is to recognize you need to sign in -- usually through a link in the upper right-hand area of the site. There are no "Post" pushbuttons displayed until you successfully sign in. Is there a way to always show the "Post" pushbutton and if you are not signed in, trigger a "not signed in" event to get you to the sign in screen?
