Upgrading CS 2.1 to CS 2008?

Upgrading CS 2.1 to CS 2008?

This question has suggested answer(s)

Is there an upgrade path from CS 2.1 to CS 2007 or 2008?  I couldn't find an updater on the downloads page.

Thanks in advance!

  • I need this update too. Could anybody help?

  • You should be able to use the current upgrade package for CS2008.5 SP1 found on our downloads page (http://get.communityserver.com/download/cs20085up) to upgrade any version of CS from 2.1 on to the latest release of CS.

One thing to mention is we have seen some clients have issues with the upgrade process when going from CS2.1 if only using the CS2008.5 SP1 upgrade file.  This does not happen to all of our users, and the issues that have prevented the process vary from situation to situation.

If for some reason you do encounter errors when applying the SQL scripts to upgrade your DB schema, it might be worth while to attempt upgrading from CS2.1 to CS2007, then to CS2007.1 and then using the CS2008.5 upgrade file to go the rest of the way.  If you do have to go this route, you can find the install files for straight CS2007 at the following location:  http://get.communityserver.com/download/cs2007web/

  • I've tried upgrading CS 2.1 to CS2008.5 SP1. The Upgrader throughs a SQL error right after the start.

In the end, it doesn't even detect the site to upgrade so the upgrade doesn't work.

I'm going to try the suggested path.

    Thanks

  • I have same problem. When I am trying to upgrade   CS 2.1 to CS2008.5 SP1 error appear download path not found. Any suggest will helpful for me.

  • I had no success doing it and tried for weeks. I could get to 2007.1 but never beyond that without losing my media files. We had to install 2008.5 to proceed and manually copy/paste from 2.1 to 2008.5 for our pre-existing communities.

  • Hello,

I have done a few of these upgrades for big sites.  Here is the safest way without a ton of headaches. Please read the following article.
