You can create forums in the Create New Forum control panel applet. You should create a forum group before you create a new forum. If you do not create a forum group first, only the administrator’s forum group displays. Telligent recommends that you do not create forums in the administrator’s forum group.
Procedure
1. Navigate to Control Panel > System Administration > Forum Administration > Create New Forum.

2. Specify the forum settings. When you are creating a forum, Evolution provides only the Basic tab.
- Forum Name – Name of the forum. Choose a short but descriptive name. This is used as the title for the forum display within the forum group. This and the selection of the Forum Group are the only required tasks to create a forum.
- Description - The description is displayed below the forum name. You are allowed to use HTML mark-up. A typical use of the forum description is to elaborate on the forum name. This setting is optional.
- Forum Group - Forum group to which the forum is assigned.
- Parent Forum - Evolution allows in forums the concept of parent and child forums. Child forums appear within the header as hyperlinks.
- Enable this Forum - Forums can be disabled by selecting No. The forum will still be stored within Evolution even if it is disabled. It will not be visible or usable. Select Yes to re-enable the forum.
- Default Language - The default language can be set for a forum by selecting an entry from the drop down list.
3. Click Save. After you save the forum and reopen it by clicking Edit, additional tabs display for you to specify additional properties.

Refer to Editing Forum Properties for additional information.
