Are thread ID numbers unique across a site?

This question has suggested answer(s)

I am developing a database to keep track of threads and I am using their thread Id number as their reference.

I see that that a thread is identified at the end of a url as such:

forumName/f/18/t/3377

Where 3377 is the number of the thread. What I need to know, please, is this number going to be unique site wide? Or can two different threads have the same identifier number from two different forums of a site?

  • ThreadIds are unique in a community.  Depending on what you're doing, you may however with to consider storing the ContentId instead - the ContentId is unique across all content in the community.

  • Thank you. Is there ever a instance where Thread Id's are not unique in a community? I have not found where Content Id would be of much use to me compared to Thread Id's.
