Where to find Licensing information for Telligent Community?

This question is answered

Where can I find licensing information for Telligent Community? Specifically, I would like to know if there is still a free or express version like it was in Community Server or what would be the lower budget option for this new version.

Thanks.

  • The Express version only allows running the site locally.  To get more information on the licensing, you would need to contact sales.

  • Great. Your policy is to create a product, soak in feedback, improvements, community efforts, and, when you have a good tested product, you abandon us with a discontinued obsolete product. For people like me, that offered help for years and provided the best I could do (even a Spanish Language Pack that no one did before), this is an outrage.

If you don't give any answer for this kind of situation in the next two weeks, I will leave this community since this would be no longer a good place to stay.

    Thanks.

  • José, in all honesty, I am not the one to contact.  In this case, I am merely a developer, I have no control over any of those aspects.

  • Thanks for your clarification. People behind this unfair strategy should reconsider the whole thing. You don't imagine how bad is the impression that your company is making of itself with that decision.

  • Has anybody ever gotten a fixed set of licensing options and costs from Telligent on CS5?  I was actually told by a salesperson that they had to contact their legal dept before they could deliver a full quote to me, and I still don't know if I'm able to purchase the previous 2008.5 version (which may better suit my client's cost requirements for multiple domain names).

Dealing with Telligent's new Community 5 product is becoming extremely frustrating.  I am becoming convinced they are arbitrarily pricing their product based on what they think they can get out of the customer ... just not a good experience so far.  I feel for those who spent so much time supporting the community development prior to losing the Express version that was once offered.  (Running something locally is not a usable or sellable product, it's a trial version.)

Just thought that was worth sharing.

  • This is an answer that I got from Rob Howard earlier when I thought that Telligent had cut me loose from upgrading to CS2008.

    Hi Tore,

That’s definitely the plan – we really want to make our customer’s experience with CS rock.

Yes, existing customers will indefinitely be able to upgrade their Personal license forever.

How about never more? You just had a change of hearts and wanted to make a name change. I can imagine how your new leadership and Intel investment reacted to you selling the personal license (not the free express) for $99 to simple chumps like me. "WHAT? SELLING OUR PROPERTY TO PEOPLE ON THE CHEAP?"

Just to let you know Rob H, it's good for you that you want be needing my money again. Your name isn't worth much anymore. I hope to help a lot of people away from your products. Well, it's not your fault I'm sure. You used to be a nice guy. It seems some other people came onboard and had to make life a lot painful.

Well Ken, I'm merely a customer, I have no control over any of those aspects. Buying? Well, let me take a loan on the house at first.

  • This still hasn't been resolved. Paying for the product is not prioritized.
