Report Abuse functionality

Report Abuse functionality

This question is answered

When clicking on the "report abuse" functionality in a forum thread, where should the abuse reports be sent? As of right now, when a user reports abuse, the report isn't going anywhere. Does this have to do with a mail gateway issue not being set up? How can we make sure that any reports of abuse are going directly to the Admin?

  • The reports go to a "Reporting Forum" forum which is by default located in the "Administrators" group, but it may possibly have been moved in your community.

If you can't find your forum, you should get redirected to it after going to yourdomain.com/.../1.aspx

  • Andrea - you need to visit the reporting forums which are hidden in the 'administrators' group. If you are an admin you should be able to access this.

If you want to receive notifications unfortunately this is not automatic. you will need to visit the forum or group and subscribe to it. you should then get the notifications of reported content.

    Thanks

  • Thanks Alex and Adam!

A related question - will abuse reports show up in the Activity Message list? Is there any way we can make sure that any reports of abuse won't show up there? From a business/user perspective, we'd like to assure users that reports of abuse are anonymous and other users won't be able to see when they've reported another user.

  • I don't think they do, but even if they do, they'll be controlled by permissions.  Only administrators have permission to view the Administrators forum, and thus only Administrators would see those activities in their activity streams.
