Can users be given permission to edit their own posts?

This question has suggested answer(s)

We're in the process of adjusting the permissions assigned to users in our community. Is it possible to assign a user permission to edit ONLY content he or she has created? We'd like users to be able to edit blogs, forums, media gallery posts and wiki posts ONLY that they've originally authored. We do not want them to be able to edit the content of other users. Is this possible and if so, how should permissions be assigned in the Control Panel?

  • Was anyone able to find a response for this one? We're still interested in allowing users to edit ONLY their own posts in our community. Thanks!

  • At this point allowing users to edit content applies to both their content as well as content created by other users in the community.

  • To provide a little more clarity... This option does exist for use with our Forums.

Once you are logged in as your site's admin navigate to siteURL/controlpanel/forums/options/PostOptions.aspx.

Setting both the Edit Post Body Age Limit and Delete Post Age Limit to -1 will allow a user to edit or delete only his forum posts at any point in the future.
