Description

Purpose

Displays a static advertisement message on the site. The "Regional" part of the widget name is a reference aid when you need to apply the widget on multiple pages.

"Region" is convenience label that the advertisement is saved under so that you can access it from multiple pages. For example, if the widget is saved as region "Top (Sidebar)" on one page, you can drop the regional advertisement widget with the region "Top (Sidebar)" on a different page and have this same advertisement appear.

    Limitations

    The Enable Ads property on the Manage Ads page must be enabled for this widget to take effect. Any user you wish to view the widget must not have the Hide Ads permission disabled.

    You can't disable the Site - Hide ads permission for the admin user.

    Where it works

    This widget works on site pages and nearly any page in the site.

    Configuration

    Disable the Site - Hide ads permission

    1. Edit the role for the desired user(s)
    2. Move the Site - Hide ads permission from Granted Permissions (right pane) to Available Permissions (left pane).
    3. Click Save.

    Enable the Enable Ads check box

    The Enable Ads property on the Manage Ads page must be enabled for this widget to take effect.

    Enable the widget

    1. Navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Site Administration > Widget Studio > Enable/Disable widgets.
    2. If it is not already present in Allowed widgets, move the widget from the Not Allowed Widgets column to the Allowed Widgets column.

    Place and configure the widget in Edit page mode

    1. In Edit page mode, select and place the Advertisement (Regional) widget.
    2. Click Configure on the widget menu bar. The configuration dialog appears.

    3. In the Widget Title field, you can enter a new title.
    4. Select the area of the page where you want the widget to appear in the Advertisement Region/Code drop-down:
      1. Top (Content)
      2. Middle (Content)
      3. Bottom (Content)
      4. Top (Sidebar)
      5. Middle (Sidebar)
      6. Bottom (Sidebar)
    5. Enter the HTML for the widget in the HTML Code field.
    6. Click Save in the configuration dialog. The advertisement appears in Edit Page mode.
    7. Click Save Page and exit.
