The Advanced Configuration > Misc page allows you to specify custom ping services to be automatically notified when you publish new content on a blog. By default, the Custom Blog Ping Service window contains URLs to send RSS information to Weblogs.com, Technorati.com, and Ping-O-Matic (pingomatic.com).

Note: Custom ping notifications are supported at the blog level only if RSS syndication for the site is enabled at the site level.

You can also syndicate external links on the Misc page.

To set properties on the Misc page:

  1. Click the name of the blog in the Blog list.

  2. Click Edit blog settings in the Options panel.

  3. Navigate to Configure > Advanced Configuration > Misc.

  4. Set the Misc properties:

    • Custom Blog Ping Server - Enter any ping services that you want notified when you publish new content on your blog. You must enter one URL per line (http://) using a semicolon delimiter.

    • Syndicate External Links - If enabled, ensures that any links to your blog posts coming from an external source are syndicated as the original link rather than a link to the internal copy of the post. If the Syndicate External Links option is disabled (set to No), the user is not rerouted. Telligent Community can capture user comments, view counts, and so on. If the option is enabled (set to Yes), then the user is rerouted to the linked author's blog and no statistics are collected after the point of hand-off.

  5. Click Save to apply the settings.
