Emoticon properties

Telligent Community allows you to use keyboard key combinations (for example, [colon], [hyphen], [right parenthesis]) to create an icon (in this case, a smiley face).  Out of the box, Telligent Community has a list of emoticons - which you can add to, modify, or delete.

Note: In order for users to have access to creating emoticons with keyboard key combinations, you must enable the Allow Emoticons property on the site administration's Post Settings page.

To manage emoticons, navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Site Administration > Site Content > Emoticon Filters. The list of emoticons displays in the workspace.

Create a new emoticon

1. Scroll to the bottom of the page.

2. Enter the text you want translated to an emoticon; the emoticon URL, and a description of the emoticon.

3. Click Create.

   

   The emoticon is now listed in the Text to Match and Image fields.

Edit an existing emoticon

1. Locate the icon you want to change.

   

2. Click Edit to display the editable emoticon properties.

3. Click Update.

   

   The update is displayed in the Emoticon Filters page.
