 When editing a header, an import/export header button appears in the user interface.

Widgets that live in the header

The following widgets live in the header:

Edit the site header

To perform this function, you must be a site admin with the Site - Edit Theme permission.

  1. Sign onto the site as an admin.
  2. Navigate to the site home page and click Edit Page. The editable header area appears.
  3. Click Edit Header.



    The editable header opens, displaying the widgets.
  4. Drag the desired widget(s) below the search area. In this example, we added an extra Generic Content widget, locking it down at the site level. By default, added widgets are unlocked.

  5. After configuring the widget(s), save the configuration.
  6. Click Save header in the upper-right corner of the page.
  7. Click Save Page.
  8. If you want this header to be applied as the default, select Save as the new default version.
  9. If desired, select the Apply the new default to all users check box.
  10. Click Save Page.
  11. Click OK in the confirmation dialog.

Edit the group header

To perform this function, you must be a group admin and have the Group - Edit theme permission. The Enable Themes option in System Administration > Group Administration > Configuration > Default Group Theme must also be selected.

  1. Sign onto the site as a group admin.
  2. Navigate to the group home page and click Edit Page. The editable header area appears.
  3. Click Edit header. The editable header opens, displaying any widgets you added and locked from the site level.
  4. You have the option whether to select any modified header for this group, or the default for all groups, in the Select header button.
  5. Make the edits you have available. In the following screen shot, one widget was locked at the site level. We have added another Generic Content widget. Note: You can't lock a widget unless you have the Site - Edit Theme permission.



  6. Click Save header.
  7. Click Save Page.
  8. Select Save as the new default version if desired.
  9. Click Save Page.
  10. Click OK in the confirmation dialog.

Edit the blog header

To perform this function, you must be a group admin with the Blog - Edit theme permission. The Enable Themes option in System Administration > Blog Administration > Configuration > Default Presentation must also be selected.

  1. Sign onto the site as a blog admin.
  2. Navigate to the blog home page and click Edit Page. The editable header area appears.
  3. Click Edit header. The editable header opens, displaying any inherited widgets.You have the option whether to select any modified header for this blog, or the default for all groups, in the Select header button.
  4. Make the edits you have available. In the following screen shot, one widget was locked at the site level. We added a Blog - Breadcrumbs widget.

  5. Click Save header.
  6. Click Save Page.
  7. Select Save as the new default version if desired.
  8. Click Save Page.
  9. Click OK in the confirmation dialog.
