You enable the Member Points System (MPS) for your site and control how member points are earned. You also control who can see user points on the site.

To configure MPS:

  1. Navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Site Administration > Site Configuration > Manage Member Points System. The General page appears.


      

  2. Specify the following settings: 

    1. General tab - Enable the Member Points System by selecting the Yes option.

    2. Factor values tab - Set the point-collecting activities. Some defaults are set to 0, which means that the activity will not be awarded points.  

      1. Quality Factors
        These factors give points to community participants who are friended or followed as well as the authors of content that have received positive response from community participants, indicating that the content has been helpful in some way.

        1. Verified Answer Factor - Number of points awarded to a the author of a forum reply or suggested answer that has been verified as an answer. Default: 20

        2. Rating Factor - Number of points (default is 6) awarded to the author of the following for each rating value received (e.g., each star if displayed as 5 stars):
          1. Question or discussion (forum thread)
          2. Reply to a question or discussion
          3. Blog post
          4. File

        2. Favorite Post Factor - Number of points awarded to the author of a blog post, forum thread, or file each time it is bookmarked. Default: 0

        3. Reply Factor - Number of points awarded to the author of a forum thread for each direct reply it receives. Default:15

        4. Replier Factor - Number of points awarded to the author of a forum thread for each direct reply by another unique user (someone who hasn't yet replied to that thread). Default: 0

        5. Download Factor - Number of points awarded to the person who uploaded a file each time it is downloaded. Default: 0

        6. Downloader Factor - Number of points awarded to the person who uploaded a file each time it is downloaded by another unique user (someone who hasn't yet downloaded the file). Default: 5

        7. Favorite User (Friend) Factor - Number of points awarded to a community participant each time he or she is friended or followed by another person. Default: 10

      2. Participation
        These factors give points to the person who takes a particular action, whether creating new content or providing feedback on existing content.

        1. Rater Factor - Number of points awarded to a community participant for each rating level (e.g., each star in a 5-star rating system) he or she gives to a blog post, forum thread, forum reply, or file. Default: 1

        2. Post Factor - Number of points awarded to the author of each blog post, forum thread, or file. Default: 5

        3. Wiki Comments - Number of points a community participant receives for adding a comment to a wiki article. Default: 5

        4. Wiki Edits - Number of points a community participant receives for editing a wiki page. Default: 20

        5. New Page - Number of points a community participant receives for publishing a new wiki page. Default: 40
  • Click Save to apply the settings.
