In Telligent Community 7.0, you can now view user badges and ranks on the all user profile pages.
You can edit your profile information on the user profile page. The profile page contains an Edit profile link that lists information fields you can fill out to provide other community members information about your social IDs, interests, education, and competencies among other things (depending on how the administrator has configured the basic profile page).
You can find others in a general search of your community by searching the entire site for a textual term, such as a university name or a sport. In certain circumstances, when your admin has made it possible to do so, you can search out others who have filled out the same profile information field the same way - such as clicking on your university name in the "Education" field (which, if searching were enabled, would appear as a link), and finding others who've specified that university in their "Education" field.
Some of your profile fields might already be filled out. For example, if you had to specify your Yahoo IM ID or location to register for the community, that information is already furnished in your profile. (In this specific situation, your Yahoo ID would be made public in your profile Contact area, and your location would be made public in your About section.)
If a profile field is present and you choose not to fill it out, in most cases that field is not displayed on your profile. (The exception would be language, which must be selected and will therefore appear.) For example, your profile might contain contact fields for your public email, blog URL, media gallery, Twitter ID, Facebook ID, or other information, but if you don't fill out those fields, they will not appear on your profile. Or, if you delete the information in a previously published version of your profile (such as your location in the About area), in most cases the information will be removed from public view.
Edit profile information
- Click your user icon on the top navigation bar.
- Click Edit Profile on your profile page. The Edit Profile page appears.
You can change your avatar by following this procedure.
These are set by default in your profile. You can't change these unless you have the permission to edit your profile page and change the User - Navigation widget.
Here is where you can furnish any information you want the community to know about you. The text you place in your profile is findable in search.
By default, this area will have the language set for you, and that will appear on your profile.
If other languages are selectable in the Language drop-down list, you can select one of these and the site will appear to you in this language. For example, if you select French from the list of selectable languages, text on the site will be translated to French. Note, however, that the language a post was created in will be displayed for that post on the site. Telligent Community does not translate content; it just supports language packs that localize the site.
If you have earned any badges in the community, they will be displayed on your profile. If you have permission to edit your profile page, you might be able to remove the User - Badges widget from the page. But in any case, if rank badges are configured on your site, they will be displayed where they can be.
This area contains a number of fields you can use to let members contact you. As previously noted, one or more of these fields might already be filled in from your registration form. Possible fields include your public email, blog URL, media gallery URL, Twitter ID, Facebook ID, AOL IM ID, Yahoo IM ID, Google IM ID, or Windows Live IM ID.
Custom profile fields
Your community manager can configure custom profile fields for users to fill out. These can be made searchable directly from your profile when configured by the community administrator.
