When you subscribe to a forum, Telligent Community notifies you at the email address you specified of every new post in the thread.
To subscribe to a forum by email, use the subscription option in the forum:

In the forum page, locate the Options area.

In the Options area, click Email subscribe to this forum.
The link changes to an unsubscribe link, indicating you have successfully been subscribed using the email address on file in the system.
