As your community grows, you might need to reorganize some of your forum content differently to make it more accessible to members. For example, you might find that a recurring issue or question appears in your forums but has been answered multiple times and has a verified answer, so you want to give that information a dedicated page in a wiki. The Telligent Community capture thread to wiki option lets you do just that from both discussion and Q&A forums.
The capture thread to wiki is an option in the post page Options panel.
How thread capture works
Capture to wiki supports discussion and Q&A forum threads. The following example shows a Q&A thread.
Scenario: After a Q&A thread topic receives a number of replies, the poster verifies one reply as the answer. The group owner thinks this would be useful as a wiki page.

Capture the forum thread
- On the forum Home Page, click the thread you want to capture. The post page appears.
- On the Options panel, click Capture to wiki. The Capture to wiki dialog box appears, listing the wiki(s) available in the group. If only wiki is available, the capture will default to that wiki.

- Select the desired wiki in the drop-down list.
- Click Capture. The wiki opens a new page ("Add page") and copies the forum thread question, verified answer, and thread links to the wiki page.

The wiki page is given the same title as the forum thread. The original question contains a live link back to the forum question. The verified answer contains a live link back to the verified answer.
- Click Save on the wiki page. The new page is now part of the desired wiki, and it contains live links back to the originating thread. The thread contains a notice that it was captured to a wiki and links to the wiki page.

Recapture a thread
If a thread is subsequently changed, such as by being re-answered, the wiki page does not show the updated information or any notification of the change. In order to update the wiki page, you can recapture the thread.
- Click the updated thread in the forum Home Page Forum - Thread List. The post page appears.
- Click Recapture.

The wiki page is reopened, and an updated verified answer is added to the page. (The previous answer is still displayed.)

In the updated wiki page, the original question contains a live link back to the forum question. The updated verified answer contains a live link back to the updated verified answer.
- Click Save on the wiki page.
Unlink the wiki page and forum thread
As a forum admin, you can remove the link from the forum thread to the wiki page.
- Click the updated thread in the forum Home Page Forum - Thread List. The post page appears.
- Click Remove link to wiki.

- Click OK in the confirmation dialog box. The forum thread no longer displays a link to the wiki page or capture information.
