You can control how your want to surface blogs on your Web site or use Telligent Enterprise's default blog settings.

This document contains information on the following:

By default (with no changes to the settings made by an administrator)

  • Empty directories are created for every new blog in which all blog content resides.

  • There are no restrictions on which posts are displayed.

  • The most recent 25 blog posts are displayed on the aggregate blogs page and in associated RSS/Atom feeds.

  • 15 blog posts are displayed on each individual blog home page and in associated RSS/Atom feeds.

  • 250 characters of each blog post is displayed in any blog listing within the community.

  • We include three views for blogs: recent posts (in date descending order), most views (by number of views in descending order) and most comments (by number of comments in descending order). These options are included in editing the Blog Post list widget (see information about customizing your site layout).

Limit which blog posts are displayed both on the site and in RSS feeds

  1. Navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Blog Administration > Configuration > Default Settings.

  2. In Default Aggregate Tags, enter tags separated by semicolons, which posts must include in order to be displayed on the site blog list and in blog post RSS feeds.

  3. Click Save to apply the settings.

Change how blog posts are shown on aggregate blogs pages and individual blog home pages

  1. Navigate to Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Blog Administration > Configuration > Default Presentation.

  2. Set Aggregate Post Count to the number of blog posts you want to include on the aggregate community blog lists (~/b/ for all blogs, ~/<group>/b/ for all blogs in a group). This must be greater than 0.

  3. Set RSS Post Excerpt Size to the number of characters you want to display in any list view of blog posts (both aggregate and individual). Keep in mind that we find the end of the current word to display prior to appending ellipses and don't just show exactly the number of characters you specify. Even if you specify 0, the first word is displayed.

  4. Set Individual Post Count to the number of blog posts you want to include on the blog home page for each individual blog. This must be greater than 0.

  5. Click Save to apply the settings.
