On occasion, you'll need to move articles within a wiki. This is supported within the wiki application. You can:

  • Move a wiki - move entire wiki to a group or subgroup
  • Move a wiki page - move a wiki page to another wiki page within same group

However, sometimes you'll need to move a series of wiki pages from one group to another.  The manual process of moving one page at a time simply won't work.

The easiest way to do this is to go directly into the Telligent database and modify the related data.

Making changes within the database is not without risk. Furthermore, this is not supported by Telligent. Changes are made at your own risk.

To move the wiki pages, first open the cs_Wiki_Pages and change the WikiId of the page you wish to move to the WikiId of the Wiki in the other group (look in: cs_Wiki_Wikis to see the WikiId). You will also need to change the ParentId of the wiki page you are moving to the PageId of the new wiki group page.

The permissions and links and any content, etc., should all stay unchanged as all you are doing is re-defining the parent wiki ID. However if there are links in the wiki which point to other wiki pages which you have also moved, you will need to update these manually to point to the group wiki where they have been moved.

Because you are moving the wikis to a new group, the user must have Wiki - read, Wiki - comment, etc. permissions for this group under the group permissions. Registered users should have these permissions anyway, though, so unless you have changed them they will be the fine.
