An avatar is a photo or image used to visually associate your content content with your user information. It creates a level of personalization within the community.

Your ability to have or change your avatar is controlled by the community administrator. He or she may also provide a list of avatars (from a URL) for you to choose from when personalizing your profile.

Change your avatar

  1. Click your username in the navigation bar.



    Your profile appears.
  2. Click the user image in your profile.

  3. Click Change avatar. The Change avatar dialog window appears.



    You are presented with options for changing the avatar, depending upon your site's configuration. All three possible options are covered below.

    1. Upload an avatar - Upload an image to use as your user representation in the community.
      1. Click the Upload an avatar tab if necessary to navigate there.
      2. Click Browse and navigate to the image.
      3. Click Open in the windows dialog window.
      4. Click Upload and use image in the Change an avatar dialog window.
    2. Select an avatar - Choose an image from those made available by the administrator.
      1. Click the Select an avatar tab if necessary to navigate there.
      2. Click the image you want to select.
      3. Click Use selected image.
    3. Link to an avatar - Navigate to avatars located at a different location and select the image. Your administrator may provide you with the correct link.
      1. Click the Link to an avatar tab if necessary to navigate there.
      2. Click Use linked image.

Remove your avatar

  1. Navigate to your profile.
  2. Click your profile image.
  3. Select Change avatar. The Change avatar dialog window appears.
  4. On any tab, click the Remove avatar button on the tab.



    The image is removed from your profile.
