Although we strive to make every release the highest possible quality, there will always be issues that have not been addressed. Here we document the set of issues that are known to exist in Telligent Community 5.5 and/or Telligent Enterprise 2.5, with the distinction made between common issues that are expected behavior and issues that are already identified to be fixed in a future release. If you run into any issues with your community that are not documented here, please search for answers in our support community or contact Telligent Support directly.
Expected Behavior
Web browser compatibility & IE6
A complete matrix of browsers with which we have tested the product can be found in the Installation Guide. If you use a browser version that is not listed there, you may see issues that range from missing functionality to visual inconsistencies.
Telligent strongly encourages users to upgrade away from IE6. Microsoft, similarly, has recently recommended the abandonment of IE6 for security reasons. Although our software has been tested against IE6, users may notice some visual inconsistencies between browsers due to the lack of support for basic Web development standards in IE6 that are leveraged throughout our product. We will not be able to support or patch several of these issues.
Large file uploads
In a default installation, users are limited to uploading files no larger than 20 MB and may see an application exception if they attempt a larger file. To allow for larger file sizes, adjust the httpRuntime maxRequestLength="20480" entry in your web.config file.
Activity messages do not change
Activity messages do not change once they have been posted; they are simply a snapshot in time for an activity that occurred on the site. If the content behind the activity message is changed, deleted or moved, the activity message will now point to an invalid location. As an example, if someone publishes a blog post and then deletes the post, the activity message about that blog post will still be seen by the author's followers and when they follow the link, they will be told the post can not be found.
No activity message for blog posts that were set to be published at a future date
If a blog author creates a post and sets a specific future publish date, an activity message is not posted when the post is published. This is also true if a post is first saved as a draft and then published on a later edit.
SharePoint synchronization compatibility
If you want to integrate your community based Telligent Community 5.5 or Telligent Enterprise 2.5, you must install Telligent's SharePoint components that will be delivered as part of the Telligent Evolution Platform SDK in March 2010.
If you are using an SSO module or a provider such as Facebook, LiveID, Active Directory, or Basic Authentication, you cannot impersonate another user even though the link is available in the Control Panel. If you need to be able to publish blogs on behalf of another person, you can use Live Writer.
Access Denied or Resource Not Found errors with private groups
Content in and details about private unlisted and private listed groups can only be viewed by members of the group.
- When a user attempts to access a private listed group but is not yet a member of that group, he or she will see an "Access Denied" error.
The group owner or a member of the group must add any new members since they are unable to request membership themselves.
Post and comment counts do not refresh immediately
Depending on your server configurations and caching deployments, you may notice that some metrics shown throughout the community may take up to five minutes to update. For example, if a blog post is deleted in a cached environment, the blog post count for that blog may not reflect the delete immediately.
Override validation permissions do not allow for file types that are not allowed to be published
The override validation permission used to allow admins (or users in roles granted this permission) the ability to upload restricted file types. This override has been disabled in this release to prevent malicious content from being published. We are working on new ways to allow trusted authors more permissions than untrusted authors in future releases.

An emailed group invitation creates site membership, not group membership
In Telligent Evolution 5.5, accepting an invitation to a group does not currently create group membership for the user. When he/she accepts, it creates a site membership (in the case of a non-member) or returns an existing user to the site. The user must be added to a group by an administrator or owner.
This behavior is modified in a subsequent release so that accepting a group membership invitation also joins the user to the group as a member.
Parent forum is not operational
The parent forum is a property listed in Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Forum Administration > Forums and Groups > Create New Forum > Advanced. This selection of a forum in this drop-down list does not effect any change in the forum's behavior. The option is not operational in this release.
Known issues from Telligent test passes
These known issues may confuse your community participants or block them from contributing in the way they would like. We have provided workarounds for each issue and, in some cases, may provide a fix to the issue in a future release.
