New in Telligent Evolution 5.5: An administrator can restrict dashboard tab editing and deletion (Telligent Enterprise only), or restrict inclusion or removal of widgets and their content.
By default, community members can customize their dashboards, group owners can customize any group and group application pages and blog authors can customize their blog pages (as long as the group owner doesn't overwrite his/her changes). However, an administrator can also restrict dashboard tab editing and deletion (Telligent Enterprise), or restrict inclusion or removal of widgets and their content.
If you have a particular layout for every community member's
dashboard and do not want them to be able to make any changes to their
individual dashboards, you must disable Customization Mode for dashboards.
Locking tabs (Telligent Enterprise release 5.5 only)
In Telligent Enterprise only, you can enable or disable users from adding, removing or editing tab names and content on the dashboard. There are two kinds of controls: locking only the tab, or locking the tab's contents.
Lock a tab
To lock only the tab, preventing users from removing or renaming it:
-
Enter Edit mode.
-
Select the tab you want to restrict and click the wrench icon. The Edit a tab dialog box displays.

-
(In this dialog, you can name the tab or add an optional URL.)
Select the Locked - Don't allow this tab to be renamed check box.
As a result, a lock icon will now appear in the banner of each widget.

- You can leave all of
these widgets unlocked (allowing users to change them); lock individual
widgets, or you can lock all content.
Locking all tab content (Telligent Enterprise only)
If you select the Content Locked check box in the tab editing dialog box, a registered user cannot enter Customize mode and hence, cannot change the layout of the page.
In Telligent
Enterprise, it is possible to lock and unlock Dashboard tabs for
editing by end users. All other tabs in both Telligent Enterprise and
Telligent community are locked and are not editable by users. So in
locked Telligent Enterprise Dashboard tabs and in all Telligent
Community tabs, individual widgets have locking options.
As an admin, if you lock a widget using the lock icon,
the icon will be greyed out in a non-Administrative user's Edit mode
and he/she cannot remove the widget. If you leave the widget unlocked,
the icon is accessible to users in Edit mode, and they can remove the
widget.
Locking is only supported on default pages (i.e., all instances of a
page, such as all blog pages). Locking widgets on a contextual page
(e.g.,
for one blog only) means that it affects only that page. It doesn't
affect
any other pages or keep you from editing the single blog page in any
way. In this case, locking and saving contextually for only one blog
would have no
effect.
To lock an individual widget
-
Enter Edit mode.
Locate the desired widget already on the page, or add the widget.
-
The widget banner will display the lock and edit options.

- Click the opened lock icon. The icon will change to a closed lock.
