You may find that a topic has generated multiple posts in your forum. You can centralize the data from all of the posts by merging all of the threads into one post. You can also separate the merged posts at a later time if you need to.
To merge post threads:

Open the post that is in a moderation state. The Posts page displays.

Click Join. A dialog window displays.

Browse to or enter the ID of the post with which you want to merge the post in the moderation state. The post ID is located at the end of the post URL. In this procedure, the post to which the moderated post will be merged is 297, as shown in the following URL:
http://test.communityserver.com/forums/t/297.aspx

Click Find ThreadID.

Click Merge Threads.

After you merge the threads, you will see the Join option replaced by a Split Posts option.
