New in Telligent Evolution 5.5: Browse and list widgets have increased functionality.

The following table lists the file gallery widgets. We include a description of the purpose of the widget, any limitations and any additional configuration option beyond the ability to set a custom title shown in the header of the widget (if configured to display). To change the configuration options, you simply click on the customize button  on the widget when in Customize or Edit Mode.

We show screenshots from the Fiji theme - the look and feel of the widgets will vary depending upon the theme in which you're viewing them.

Widget Description
Add Comment Form

Purpose: Displays a form that allows users to add comments to media files.

Limitations: This widget can be added only at the media file context.

Media Gallery - Bread Crumbs

Purpose: Displays media gallery bread crumbs. The bread crumbs are normally at the top of the page and provide users a visual display of their location within the Web site. Each item in the bread crumb is a link to a page.

Media Gallery - Browse File Galleries

 In Telligent Evolution 5.6, "Items to show before scrolling" was changed to "Page size;" it became impossible to have a page size below 1; the widget began including a new search box option; search finds special characters, and a preview error was corrected.

Purpose: Displays a browse control that lists all the file galleries on the Web site. You can navigate to the blog by clicking on the blog title.

This widget does not show the search box if it returns three or fewer results (by default). This and all other browse or list widgets are now allowed for group owners. All browse widgets search against application names as well as group names.

Additional configuration options:

  • Title - If checked, the gallery title displays in the list. If Show Data from Groups and All Subgroups is unchecked, the list displays only galleries at the site root.
  • Posts - If checked, the number of files posted to the galleries is listed.
  • Group - If checked, the parent group displays.
  • Last Post - If checked, the date of the most recent file for each gallery is noted.
  • Show Data from Groups and All Subgroups - If checked, displays galleries from the site root, groups, and subgroups.
  • Default Sort Order- Applies a sorting filter.
    • Application Name - Sorts the galleries in alphabetical order.
    • Posts - Sorts the galleries by the greatest number of posted files, from most to least.
    • Last Post - Sorts the galleries by most recent posted files, from the gallery with the most recent to the oldest.
  • Include Current Group's Name in Title - Displays the name of the parent group with the title.
  • Include Search Box - Includes word-wheel search capability for media files.
Media Gallery - Comment List

 In Telligent Evolution 5.5, this and all other browse or list widgets became allowed for group owners.

Purpose: Displays user comments related to a media file.

Limitations: This widget can be added only at the media file context. The Delete link is available only to gallery owners/administrators.

Media Gallery - Delete File Form

Purpose: Displays a form that allows owners/administrators to delete a media file. The form displays when you click the Delete link in the Links widget.

Limitations: This widget can be added only at the media file context.

Media Gallery - Download File

Purpose: Displays a download agreement which users must accept to complete the file download action. The agreement displays when you click Download in the Links widget.

Limitations: The Enable Download Disclaimer property must be enabled in the Control Panel (Control Panel Dashboard > System Administration > Media Gallery Administration > Galleries and Groups > Media Galleries > [media gallery] > Options). This widget is already included in the downloadpost.aspx page, which is part of the Telligent Evolution package; however, you can add it to a different page or create a new page that begins with the widget and use developer tools to modify it.

Media Gallery - File

 Iin Telligent Evolution 5.6, long titles begain being wrapped in the text field; file attachment uploads received size limits, and columns became sortable by clicking.

Purpose: Displays the media file.

Limitations: Some functionalities, such as the rating option, are set in the Control Panel and display only if enabled by an owner/admin.

Media Gallery - File Details

Purpose: Displays details related to the file, including file author, post date, number of times the file has been downloaded, file size, and the number of times it has been viewed.

Limitations: This widget can be added only at the media file context.

Media Gallery - File List

 In Telligent Evolution 5.5, this and all other browse or list widgets became allowed for group owners, it became possible to place the widget on nearly any page; and it became able to pull content from any gallery to which it has access instead of working only contextually.

Purpose: Displays the list of files within the media gallery, including the number of times each file has been downloaded. Users are provided various sortable options and an RSS syndication link

Limitations: Owners/admins are provided the Upload File link.

Media Gallery - Links

 In Telligent Evolution 5.5, the Share File option was renamed.

Purpose: Displays common action links related to media galleries. You can customize the Links widget any way you want to suit your community's needs.

Limitations: The links available to users are based on the user's privileges and list configuration.

Additional configuration options:

  • Create New Media Gallery - Creates a new media gallery. You must have administrative privileges.
  • Edit Media Gallery - Provides access to the media gallery content and properties. You must have the Edit Post privilege.
  • Add Media Gallery - Corresponds to the New Post link in the list. Opens a new post form in which you can add a file to the gallery. You must have the Create Post privilege.
  • RSS - Adds RSS feed to the media gallery.
  • View Slideshow- Displays the gallery files in a slide show format.
  • View All Files - Displays the entire list of files in the gallery.
  • Next - Displays the next file.
  • Previous - Displays the previous file.
  • Edit Post Link - Opens the file editing form. You must have the Edit Post privilege.
  • Delete Post Link - Deletes the post. You must have the Delete Posts privilege.
  • Favorite This Gallery Link - Adds the file gallery to your favorites list.
  • Subscription Link - When subscribed, user receives notification of any comments published about the file.
  • Share File - Sends a link to the file to other users.
Media Gallery - Media Gallery Banner

Purpose: Displays the media gallery name and includes functionality links.

Limitations: Some functionality depends upon the user's privileges and will not be available to all users.

Media Gallery - Media Gallery Hierarchy

Purpose: Displays the media gallery hierarchy. You can navigate to any gallery by clicking on the gallery name within the widget.

Media Gallery - Slideshow

Purpose: Displays the media files in a slide show format.

Limitations: The content of files without graphics-type extensions, such as .txt, .doc, and .xls, will not display in the slide show format.

Media Gallery - Title

Purpose: Displays the title of the media gallery.  

Media Gallery - Upload/Edit File Form

 In Telligent Evolution 5.5, the media file upload dialog box started showing upload progress.

Purpose: Displays the upload/edit file form, which allows users to upload a file to the media gallery.

Limitations: Users who do not have file upload privileges will not have access to this functionality.
